Scandi progress report

There is no progress! Spoiler alert. This is an 8 second video of my actually stopping my rod high, that's it. Trying to learn a new style is really hard, but its fun, I keep telling myself.

As a quick fix try keeping your' elbow pressed against your ribs throughout the cast & use body rotation from your hips to make the swing & the change of angle for the cast.

This will restrict your' top hand input & force you to use your' lower hand to generate the power.

Regards, Tyke.

Thanks Tyke. I always appreciate your insights. I read you loud and clear. I need to duct tape that upper arm to my rib cage.

A spare wading belt should suffice; no need to do the whole "bondage thing"!

................unless you'd really like to of course.......I don't judge......

Few things you could consider: Try to use only bottom hand finger to hold the line. It is possible to clue a strip of rubber to the reel bottom "bar" to most fly reels which increase line friction and then the bottom hand finger is enough to prevent line slip. Even many competition casters use ony bottom hand middle finger to hold the line and I think it will make the release timing more consistent as well. Then you can use top hand "thumb and index finger loop" to guide the rod and when here is no top hand grimping you can not produce too much top arm force anymore and this force you to use the bottom hand more.
