580lb Giant Bluefin Tuna landed on the 7th of Aug off Rustico PEI. We hooked up at 9:50am and landed him at 2:00pm. STRONG fish for his size as my sore wrist can attest. We lost one after an hour and a half on the first day and this guy came along on the last day. We go again on the 17th of Sept for

Very nice. That thing would probably go for $70K on the Japanese market. Hope you have a 55 gallon drum of soy sauce.

The main portion of the body goes to the market,, but we get the head and tail steaks and dude they are fantastic on the barbecue!!!! We got $14 a pound for the fish and knock 90lbs of the round weight then do the math!! Someone, somewhere is makin alot of money,,,, sure aint us!!!!
Still, I'd do it for free!!!

Very nice. We just had frozen blackfin from Costco on the grill :).

Jamie ol buddy,,, there was mucho beer that night,, i can assure you. We fished the next morning though and i was praying to god that we didn't hook-up,, lol. I was still a little shaky from the night time activities.

im not sure why one would chase a fish that has become scarce due to being over fished, and knowing that the thing is pretty much not a candidate for release due to the drawn out fight. Either way its dead unless left alone. Just mho, i dont think any less of people who catch and kill fish like this, they are almost on the endangered species list because of the market demand in japan.
