Winston's New Ibis Spey Rods

The latest newsletter from Mark at FlyFishUSA has a section on the new Winston Ibis Rods.

The Winston site had a little more data. They have an Ibis 8/9 wt 14' rod that only weighs 7.5 ounces, 4 piece rod that they list as a "Fast Action" rod. The rod sells for $495.

This may be that missing link 8 weight rod which is 14' long that I have been looking for.

Winston has an Ibis 6/7 Spey rod that is 12' 6" long, 4 sections and is even lighter than their Ibis 8/9 for those interested in the lighter and shorter rods. This might be a good rod for the Mid West Speyers.

It will be interesting to see the lines that Simon recommends for these rods.

Does anyone know anything about this rod?

The 12'6" rod LOVES an Airflo Delta 6/7 with or without the interchangable tips. It also throws a DT6 very well if you want to work a longer dryline.
The 14' rod is at the last proto stage and should be 'production' ready in about a month.

tackleman re Winston's New Ibis Spey Rods

Are these new rods, more European or fast action rods?

Sounds like you really like the smaller rod.
