To any who are interested, some information from Musto, who will again be sponsoring the spey casting champtionship at the CLA Game Fair, to be held at Harewood House, near Leeds, in Yorkshire Aug 1-3, 2003:

"MUSTO SPONSORSHIP OF INTERNATIONAL SPEY CASTING CHAMPIONSHIP TO CONTINUE AT 2003 CLA GAME FAIR

For the fourth year running, Musto ? leading manufacturer of performance clothing for fieldsports ? are sponsoring the Musto International Open Spey Casting Championship, which will take place during The CLA Game Fair, at Harewood House, near Leeds, Yorkshire from Friday 1 ? Sunday 3 August.

The 2002 Champion, Steve Choate of Washington State, USA, has declared his intention to defend his title, which he achieved on the River Test at Broadlands with a distance of 50 yards.

Commitment and interest has also been received from anglers elsewhere in America, Canada, Japan and Norway, in addition to representatives from all parts of the United Kingdom.

Once again, in addition to the Championship with its handsome trophy and a cheque for £1000 for the winner, the second and third places will receive clothing from the recently extended Musto FPX range and the manufacturer of the winning rod will receive the Manufacturer?s Trophy, won in 2002 by Daiwa.

Since Musto took over the sponsorship of the International Open Spey Casting Championship, the event has attracted increasing international attention. The final, held mid-afternoon on the Sunday of The CLA Game Fair, attracts a full house in the Grandstand and on the adjoining banks to witness the climax of the thrilling competition - six of the world?s finest exponents of the Spey casting art battling it out, judged by Michael Evans.

Heats will be held on each of the three days of The CLA Game Fair, under the direction of the Salmon and Trout Association; the six top competitors will go through to the final.

Entry forms for the Musto International Open Spey Casting Championship are available from The CLA Game Fair Office, PO Box 6452, Basingstoke, Hants, RG25 2XQ or email christinei@clagamefair.demon.co.uk . However, competitors can register each day at the Musto Pavilion.

Try your hand at Spey Casting and win a lesson with APGAI worth £100

To promote interest in angling and Spey casting in particular, this year Musto have generously offered to set aside tuition periods for fly fishermen and women, aspiring to cast Spey-style, to try their hand under the guidance of the Association of Professional Game Angling Instructors. Each day?s most promising student will win a full one-to-one tuition session at a later date. The value of each of these prizes will be up to £100. Tuition slots can be booked at the Musto waterside pavilion, where an extensive selection of their performance clothing for fishing, shooting and riding will be on display.

it's a real fun event. very interesting to see different casting styles in practice in a controlled (if somewhat artificial) environment...

i would be honored to sork with you on your casting, but i suspect that the roles might well be reveresed!
