I've got a grand to get a spey set up in a 8/9 going this fall. I truely believe in quality .. so what you pay in $$ and how it performs on the water are directly related. I fish the great lakes rivers and tribs, salmon, browns and steelies are part of plan. Had a chance for a 8/9 Gloomis Roaring River GLX Stinger 13'-8/9 but slept to long on it... If you could, throw me out a good set up technically for a 1000 +/-

Hello,
I'm up in the U.P of Michigan, right in the middle around Trenary.
Looking for someone to show basic Spey technics and am willing to travel to his/her location. I'd like to line up an instructor for the near future as the purchase of a Spey rod and a quality reel is something to save for....but not for long.
I've had no luck locally, the one that I did find did not reply to my e-mails.
So if you know of anybody.....

Yes its a bit of a drive but there will be lots of people here to help you.
Local motels run 50 -75 bucks.
Rod and reel companies to check out what they have.

I actually did spy that on searches earlier and may just have to check it out.
In the long run I'm looking for someone in the U.P. for instruction, I'll travel
up to 100 miles from Marquette or Escanaba which covers quite a bit of the U.P.
