Mike Cox's latest message

I get mailings from Mike Cox as many of you most likely do. The last one urged us to call the White House today. In addition to that, I copied and pasted the following from his email to the contact site at http://www.whitehouse.gov and sent it. I figured every little bit can help.

"Close The Chicago Locks And Stop Asian Carp From Entering The Great Lakes"

NPR News February 8th

NPR news yesterday evening mentioned the meeting at the WH. They evidently resolved to 1) keep the locks closed more, ie, open them less (which is still stupid), 2) research carp specific chemical poisons (good luck with that) and 3) upgrade existing and/or add new electric shocking barriers.

guess putting your faith in all that change kind of back fired, reality is a cruel mother.

bonus is they will most likely burn out, the eco system can onlysupport so much, i can see the smallies, browns, and salmon eating lots of the young.

chicago machine is too entrenched in dc....

It makes me sick to my stomach thinking of those carp in my favorite steelhead and brown river.

I urge each and every one of you to call and email the whitehouse every single day in regards to this matter, the ONLY way anything is going to be done is if we make our voices loud enough.

Whether you fish the Great Lakes or not, this will have an effect on a lot of things. If you think West Coast companies do not rely on the sales they gain by having our fishery here in the Great Lakes, you are sadly mistaken.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!
