I know how you feel Metal Head living through a dark dreary northern winter. Spent a year in Iceland in USAF, land of mid night sun etc. In the lowest light period the sun would rise at 10:30 AM and set at 2:00 PM.
Glad I was busy working on the fighters 12 -16 hours a day during that time since there was nothing else to do but eat and sleep. Still was one long cold dark winter.
Keep tying flies and think spring !!

...It all averages out in July when it's still light at midnight and the sun comes back up at 4:30...I lived in Anchorage back in the mid-70's for a while and did a bunch of quasi heavy metal (C-130) bush flights to bring fuel n' stuff to the "early warning" sites (Oliktok, Lonely, Barter Island, Pt Barrow)...Ice fog, perma-frost, and a spot under the railroad bridge near the train station hooked up to a 45# angry king salmon hell bent to do the wild thing upstream and then pull the plug...I might see you this July/August if the Alagnak Lodge gets a cancellation...In the meantime, don't tongue the flagpole or hassle any wildlife...and stay away from the Bush Company!

Penguin,
Unfortunatley I was still working 12-16 hours a day during the midnight sun high light period also. Man that was a long year. !!
But I learned what hard work was all about when there are no other options. Could not even desert unless I wanted to try and swim through arctic waters.:chuckle: :chuckle:
