Your link took me to a video of a Speckled Trout being caught but I found this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWDuexT2-Q0&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL) - Is this the one? Your starting her out right.
Nice videos you have there.

You tell Maddy that she has great form ... takes a lot of discipline for that :smokin:
Good for you Maddy !!
Won't be long before she's tagging along with us to the Margaree and bombing out 100' casts all day long :hihi:
Way to go my Brother !! Really nice to see you share your passion with her !! Knowing you personally , I'm not surprised at all :)

Nice one and cheers for sharing.
I'm not sure what could be better than enjoying the conversation and companionship of our little one(s) on a nice day off.
Chaser, I watched that this morning, then again now. Smiles both times.
My youngest daughter was an ace with a zebco when she was tiny. Then we killed a deeply hooked fish, and she was done. I asked her last summer if she would want to try spey casting. She said, No, I don't have time. Or a rod. (She's 25 now).
I told her I had plenty. She's thinking about it.

Wow guys.. Maddy and i are beaming!!!
She will turn 13 in Sept and has been single handing it with me since about 7. Last year was her first venture into two handed work and i set her up with my Beulah 6/7 switch. She had alot of fun with it and as you can tell in the vid....paid attention and applied what i told her.
She ties her own flies and attends the weekly club meetings,, loves fishing, canoeing, hiking and is 100% C&R. She detests litterers and we spend some evenings on our local trout stream just picking up trash and watching trout rise. Proud????? Hahaha,,, yeah,, she's easy to be proud of;)
We are both happy that you lads broke out a smile or two while watching and that you enjoyed it.
We are planning a two day camping trip to the Margaree this summer,, just her and i and the two handers,, a tent and hopefully her first bright Margaree fish.
Thanks again guys,, the cool comments have us both smiling:)

To cool guy! It brought back memories of my then 11 yo doing the same. Now you need to get her into a salmon!
What rod are you starting her on? My 9 yo is learning this summer so he can start going with Dad and big brother on the yearly fall trip. I need to get him a rod and haven't decided what to go with yet.

Hey Duggan.
I have her on a Beulah Switch 6/7 with the matching Elixer/polis and a 8/9 SA Systems 2. It seems to work for her and she likes it. An 11'6" 7wt LOOP Blueline(Thanks Marty;)) for her summer trip.

Dwayne,
Very cool. It brings back memories on when I got my sons (who are now 24 and 20) 2-handers when each was 12. She obviously has the bug and you are a fortunate dad getting to share this wonderful sport with her, I know I'm fortunate to get to share it with my sons. Alas, my daughter, who is now 32, gave up fly fishing when she turned 13 because her girlfriends didn't fish and they told her only guys (and old guys like her dad, me) fly fished. Her son, my grandson age 11, has started to talk about wanting to try fly fishing recently and she told he she used to. This prompted him to ask her if she would go with him after grandpa taught him to fly fish this coming summer. Perhaps she will take it up again.
'Tip,
I taught both my sons how to spey cast with 7.5' single handers when each was 5 years old. I did this by adding a short, built-on-the-rod fighting butt to the rod and having them use both hands to cast. I taught them a double spey and snap-T. Later when they got to be 9, I built them 9' 5 wt rods with 2.5" fighting butts permanently on the rod. They were able to spey cast and single-hand cast with these rods easily. So when I got them their first 2-hander 13' 7/8 rods, they had no problem spey casting the true 2-hander at all.
If the switch rod blanks now available would have been available then, I would have built them a single-hand 9' 5 wt without the fighting butt and a 10.5' or 11' 6 or 7 wt switch rod.

I've fished with alot of people over the years and i can't think of one right now i'd rather have in front of me in the rotation:)
I'am pretty lucky to have her,, and proud as old hell!!! We tie flies together,, we fish together and it really is the coolest....
I hope you guys get to share this with your kids at some point. We're allready planning camping and fishing trips for this summer so i see no sign of her losing any passion for it....hopefully she doesn't.
Glad you've enjoyed the thread and thought i'd add one more pic to it,, you know,, from a very proud papa;)

Very cool!!! Made my 3 year old daughter reel in her first trout last fall!! It was amazing how she knew to wind the handle of the reel while I held the rod for her! Must of been the flipping to the fishing channel while she watched her cartoons. or all the time she spends playing with my reels.(she calls them clocks). Have to say it was the best day of my season! Now she asks me to buy her a pink fly rod everytime I talk about fishing(which is all the time)!
Hope to get what you have!!
Btw cool videos!

SC:
Enjoy these kind of pictures and scenery much more than the usual
fish porn. Looks like those waders should last her a few more years!
Just be sure to encourage her other interests. Give her a big group hug
from the spey pages group. That's something I usually reserve for
those posting their canine companions!
Best,
