Islander

Does anyone out there use Islander reels on their Spey Rods? If so what model? I have an FR3 I would like to use on a 14ft 8/9. To heavy ?

FR series is excellent for the spey, I don't think you'll find it too heavy. I have used the same reel on 8150,9140(-3),and 8126 as well as an fr2 on 6126. In all cases reel balanced fine and stood up well.Backing capacity should be good with most 8/9 and some 9/10 lines.10/11 lines would require a little amputation off the rear end or ultra-thin braided backing.BN
