Then I was informed the creeks were beginning to have the planter salmon spawn up them so I went back the other week to take video. The video im still processing. Here are a few stills. I tied the camera to a stick so I could reach the camera into the water without harassing em

I have never seen a jack spring that small. Wow.

The largest were those males with the hump and they would be about 15 or 16 inches. nice girth to em though. the creek was very small. not even two feet deep and you could jump across it.

You know you've got 2 species there eh? 1st two pics are chinook and the 2nd two shots are kokanee (or jack sockeye). That little tiny chinook is fascinating. I've never seen one anywhere near that small. What system is this from?

they are in Detroit lake in Oregon. They are planted there as a sporting fish, thats what i could find on em.

They look like kokanee to me...we get them spawning in the millions in the creeks off the main lake here. Basically a landlocked sockeye.

I think you're right. I was initially looking at the pics on my blackberry and at that size I could swear that was a spring. But full size it looks like a kokanee!

Those are kokanee. Landlocked sockeye that have been planted in many lakes.
