Shooting Heads and Spey Casting?

hi, im a beginner spey caster, so could somebody explain the use of shooting heads with spey casting? i use shooting heads for distance casting in saltwater with one handers, but dont know how they are used with a spey rod and what fishing technique they are used for. thanks for any help, mark
