This video is blocked by EMI in the U.S. on copyright grounds. Did you "borrow" some music, perhaps? At least that's the notice I get on the screen rather than your video. too bad, would've enjoyed it.

Cool Vids Frank! Glad to see Jose popped his cherry with his first ever Atlantic. A beauty! He must be glad to have that monkey off his shoulder. How did he do with the 2hander? Looked like he was coming along nicely when we went to the R.D.P. river.
Neat video. Were you guys using tips? Looks like skagit heads if I'm seeing things right.

Hi Hitcher
Nice to chat with you finally.
Jose feel in love with the 2handers @ first he tried my 12' 7 wt Greys GRXI and then he tried my sage Z-Axis 13'6 7 wt both with a Beulah elixer. He loved the sage so much that he will order from L'atalier du moucher in remouski 2 rods the z-axis spey and a matching z-axis switch. His casting is comeing along ( Not bad for a biginner 2 time):), he still needs to let the rod do the work instead of him overpowering with the top hand. if you're with him sometime this summer practiceing at the back river,he needs to work on useing more bottom hand and stopping his forward cast up high .
Jose had lots of nice things to say about you and it would be nice if one day, when im in Montreal if we can meet and enjoy a cup of coffee all of us.
Btw how was your trip at the Bonni ?
let us know
cheers

Hey Frank,
Jose is a natural. He really learns & applies quickly. Even from some bad instructing from a poor caster like me.
Missed you on the shad run. I heard you did really well with the spey. I had a great time & was lucky to hook into some really big freshwater drum(sheephead). Let me know next time you're in town. We will hook up.
Bay des Chaleurs rivers were phenomenal, like most Northeastern rivers were & are. It has been a great season so far with good #s of fish!
We had a great gang this year! Add some willing fish & it was one of our best trips ever!
Really took a liking to the long lines. A natural progression, I guess. Thanks Rob! I really learned alot from you!

So you're swinging the long bellies, tell me which rod and line were you useing?
I heard you provided for the R.D.P. shore lunch. i still can't get an answer on how you were fishing the shad. I tied a few shad flies the night before at Tim Hortons and had a great start in the morning ..... until a bunch of spin casters planted themselves next to me on both sides. I was out numbered 100 spin casters to me alone on the spey :chuckle: . hopefully next year the cat walk will be open and most of the spin caster will assume thier respected places. yes I will denfenatly message you or ask jose to buzz you when i roll into town, we can get toghter for coffee and perhaps trow some line.
cheers

I put the Hardy Mach 65 in John's hands, and before I knew it he was blasting 100' casts to where the smug salmon thought we couldn't reach them. He's a natural!

Frank,
I was fortunate enough to have a great teacher in Rob to have been able to reach that fish! Yeah, long bellies are definately for me! By the way, Anybody want a buy a few slightly used scandi lines?:hihi:
I mostly swung a fly for the shad. I would speed up or slow down my drift according to the size of fly & the amount of fishing pressure. Adding a small splitshot 18 inhes from the fly really helped in the faster water. It may be a mental thing , but flies tied with polar bear really outperformed the ones with calftail. Although, they were the ones I fished most. We will definately fish together for shad next year. 2 guys double speying next to eachother will most likely keep those spin casters at bay. We should look into targeting those drum! They are lots of fun!
Rob,
I think our day at the B1 on the Boni was my favorite of the week! it took some time to find em & dodging those canoes & kayaks made for some extreme fishing!!
Gary,
We really should tied up some of your Celtic Beauties to test there, but I'm glad we didn't. This way you will have to test em yourself when we go back next year!

I guess neither of you 2 fished the RDP (IE: Back River ) BEFORE the catwalk and that dumb fishladder were made ? Twas great until that &*%$ Pagé wrote his article in the Journal de Montreal !! You could be there ( and @ the dam on Mille Isles ) all morning and be all alone !!
Cheers

Brian You're right
I never did fish the shad before the cat walk and fish ladder was built,But i did fish the mille ilse at the damn for bass and walleye. I do remember that it was hell just to get a spot on the cat walk, Vince, jose and myself + a couple other guys wadeing below to the left of the cat walk had the water all to ourselves.
The next year all hell broke loose and canadian tire had a record year in wader sales. from the pieX bridge to the cat walk it was shoulder to shoulder. this past shad run was hard the cat walk was closed for reno's and all the hackers ended up on the shore banks and if you wanted to keep your waders it was best just to bow out :chuckle:
cheers
