This is a must read for anyone concerned with protecting the Lochsa and Clearwater Rivers along Highway 12. It details attempts by ExxonMobile to truck Tar Sands modules over the 180 mile route from Lewiston to Lolo. The highway is 22 ft. wide at its widest point, the modules are 24 ft. wide, 29 ft. tall, and weigh 641,866 lbs., more than 300 tons. In addition to the environmental threat they pose to the Lochsa and Clearwater, if one of these modules slips over the embankment into the river or, God forbid! collapses one of the bridges not rated for loads this heavy, there will be long traffic delays over highways 12, 200, 287, and 89. Outdoor recreation along this corridor will be severely impacted in any case. "The Heart of the Monster" was published by ALL AGAINST THE HAUL,
