Wrap it in foil and bury it deep in the coals until done. :hihi:

I heard a rumor Jack Cook may have some info on this fly.

I believe this style of fly is also known as the boar bristle shrimp and the hog bristle shrimp. The November 2003 issue of the English magazine Fly Fishing and Fly Tying on pages 12 - 15 gives detailed instructions on tying this style of fly on both hooks and tubes.

What you posted closely resembles a Icelandic pattern called the "Frances". Maybe that is the piggy your looking for but to me it looks more like a carrot, just like the Frances. I hope some one sends a pic of the real deal.

Here is the pattern as published in the above mentioned magazine article.

http://www.beaucatcher.com/photos/BoarBristleFly.jpg

Tube = 3/4 inch Slipstream
Thread = Red 8/0
Feelers = Chinese wild boar bristles, dyed
Tail = Orange bucktail with peral Flashabou
Rib = Oval Silver
Body = Orange floss
Palmer Hackle = Black cock
Wing/eyes = jungle cock

Other color combinations mentioned are Black & Orange and Yellow & Black but obviously you can make any combination you choose. And I noticed on the pot bellied pig site mentioned above the hackle seems to be more heavily applied than the pictures in the article which is another option.

As in most salmon flies just a variation on a theme.
