Are any of you tying up flies on circle streamer hooks? What are the general advantages to using circle streamer hooks and are there any disadvantages? I would think they would lead to fewer snags when fishing deep and may aid in retaining the hookset when the fish goes through its cycle of head shakes etc. I have seen some reference to circle hooks being used with tubes, but little or no discussion on circle streamer hooks. They would seem to offer some clear advantages.
My local shop only carries them in 1x-long shanks, are they available in 2x? Could this be why they are not favored by those tying salmon/steelhead patterns?
