Mini-Intruder tubes

Been a while since I've posted, these are a few I've done in the last couple of days. Two different views, my bench is too messy for good pics at the vise.

Very nice. Can you provide the recipe? What size hook do you intend to use?

Thanks,
Preston

Hi Preston,

The pattern is very simple. I followed Gary's recipe other than subbing a tube for the waddington that can be found on this thread:

http://speypages.com/speyclave/showt...ight=intruders

I will most likely use a #4 Octopus hook on them. How I rig this type of tube is by running the tippet thru the tube and making a double overhand knot loop (surgeon's loop?) and then looping the hook on as normal, then pull the knot back into the tubing. I'm using about a little over 1" on the tube, probably closer to 1.25". You have to allow for enough room at the front for the eyes and I always allow enough on the back end to use junction tubing in case I want to run a straight eye hook.

Gin, thanks for the comp's. These are simple compared to the beautiful ties you've posted lately.

Very fishy Mr. Hackle. Are your hands super tiny cause those look pretty big to me.

Thanks guys.

Andrew, I measured them and they're all about 3" from the tip of the tube to the end of the grizzly hackles which was about what I was looking for. That seems "mini" to me. But then I always thought intruders were mostly tied in gimongo sizes? Gary's are a touch smaller than mine on 20mm wadds. What's the norm?

I have no idea...obviously. It would be interesting to see how big or small everyone is tying them. Regardless of size yours are very fishy.
