I cast forward when d\v loop is ready

You should be loading all casts into the back cast-not during alignment stage.

I practice in a slough on the Columbia-often no current at all.
Current should not effect the loading feel into back cast.
It will effect the lift and alignment.

I agree with speyforsteel. If anything it will be the other way around. Current, especially fast ones will through off your timing until you get the hang of it. At the head of one pool I fish, I still have a hard time getting off my forward cast before my D loop disappears. Don't get discouraged it just takes practice. I know, I'm still practicing myself.
