Sage Evoke?

Thinking of buying a Sage Evoke 7/8 for my saltwater single hander and maybe a future 8wt Method Switch.

Any thoughts about this reel?

At near 10oz I am not sure if I ll like it for my single hander, or even a switch rod. Seems a too heavy reel for pleasure casting whole day....

And, is this reel going to be discontinued? Saw them going discount on some places or out of stock.

Thanks.

I've never used that reel but unless you are fishing for shark/tuna and what not I am a big fan of the Lamson reels for all day casting that I typically do when striper/bluefish fishing in the Northeast. They are light, have plenty of drag and a large arbor. Various models can be had (like the speedster) for about half the retail of the Sage reel. Plus Lamson really stands behind their reels and for the most part they share the same drag so even when the reel gets discontinued the parts that break/wear out are available.
I've also used a size 3.5 and 4.0 for switch work (with spey type lines) although for that use I have other reels I like better.
