Andy,

I don't know about the new Budget Salmon reels from Redington; however, I own three of the no longer made Redington AS reels, one AS 11/12 and two AS 13/14's. They are fine reels that I wish were still in production, and I've had no problems with them of any sort. If the new Budget Salmon reels are as good, they are a bargain.

Don't have a lot of particulars on a new

Redington reel that Leroy Teeble's had down here last week. Price (if I heard him right) was about $200 and it was an absolutly beautiful bit of equipment. Drag looked like it would stop a truck.

Brakewater

The reel that Fred saw this weekend is called a Brakewater, light blue finish. Think there are two sizes, don't qoute me, a 9/10 and a 11/12. I have the 11/12 and like it.

Isn't 60 pounds Sterling more like $120? Still, a pretty good price though.

Tight lines - tyler.

Now I hope the make it in a 13/14 size too for the large long-belly spey lines. It sounds like it is a very worthy successor to the AS and AL reels.

Andy, are you sure it was a Redington reel? Vision's new Koma salmon reel was reviewed briefly in August's T&S, & sells for 59. They're distributed by Guide, as are Redingtons, I think.

BTW, if you don't need a large arbour reel, John Norris are currently doing the BFR Magnum 200 for 40.
