Inflation was rampant in the 1970's, early in the decade the red Ambassadeur 6000 was £13.95 I seem to recall (still a lot then) & my fishing mad uncle combined with my parents to buy me one for Christmas - I was absolutely delighted as it was a complete surprise.
45 or so years later I still have it & it still works just fine.
If you can still remember the price it must certainly have made an impression! Is this the same model that had the little "casting brake pads" that worked by centripetal acceleration? That is minor feature I somehow remember from 4 decades ago.
Unfortunately almost nothing of sentimental value that I had as a kid survived the great purge - my father who had an extreme Spartan sensibility threw most of my "old" things out without asking me when I went away to school.
