Atlantic Salmon, Labrador

Hello Folks - if this post works, there should be a link to video of an Atlantic salmon a two-handed rod on Flowers River, Labrador from 2014. The take wasn't captured, but the tussle was nice (there are a couple of nice jumps). My buddies wife did the editing. Enjoy, GP

Great video

I really like the immediate handshake as well as a great release

Congratulations on the fish!

Thx for sharing

Some really great jumps in there!

I'll be on the Flowers this July 21-27, and am really looking forward to it!

Guide - Justin Forward

Justin Forward is the guide and is back at Flowers with the new owners and helped setup the new upriver camp. Justin joined us for a walk upriver in 2013, and after fishing a some fine water we continued up to Burton's Pond and Jim Burton picked us up in his Beaver.

The walk with big packs was freakin' awful, and for 2014 we decided that it would be easier to drag, paddle, and portage a canoe up from Top Pool to Boys and then paddled up to Sunburn and Forks. The video is at Cecils, which is at the bottom of a mile-long rapids below Boys (we walked up there in 2009 and 2012 as day strolls). We left the canoe at Boys and strolled back to Top Pool in 2014.

We spent 9 days up there in early August last year (2016) before they commissioned the upriver camp. Our guide was Daryl Burry (Brutha' D), and he can walk like a caribou, so we strolled way down river (miles below the named pools) and walked up to Boys, grabbed the canoe that we left in 2014, and paddled up to the wicked decent water (Sunburn, Forks, Sea World). We spent two nights out with only day packs but had nice weather, great fishing, and an all-around good time. We got fish with sea lice in Cecils on the 2016 walk, so watch out for rockets anywhere on the river. I landed a 44" fish at the falls at in 2009, so beware of beasts...
